Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on October 28 1967 in the home of Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. Her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts, a farmer, was one of the first Roberts to arrive in Atlanta. Early on, her father was interested in theatre. When he was in school of Emory University in 1952 he performed in shows on campus and elsewhere in Atlanta. After he enlisted in the Air force, he appeared alongside Betty Lou Bredemus in Biloxi.
